About Me

I am 31 years old, and recently moved to Oakland this past January to join my brother and sister (we all share an apartment together). I am originally from the Washington DC area, and travel back every few months to see my friends and family back home. My hobbies include hiking, biking, baking, gardening, and basic woodworking.

Why Tutor

The most rewarding parts of my job as a web developer are when I get to help junior developers, or give presentations/seminars on how to build things. I also have a blog where I publish How-To guides that hopefully help others move past technical challenges that I have worked through (https://taylor.callsen.me).

I am learning that helping and teaching others how to program is more fulfilling than completing the programming tasks themselves. As a result, I am hoping to start tutoring as another avenue for doing this.
